Sunny Saturday

The snow melted quickly and we are back to the warm weather.  I can't remember ever experiencing a fall and winter season with so many nice sunny days.  The real winter may yet come but it's sure taking it's time this year. I may get away with not buying those winter boots after all! Instead I've been searching for a pair of grey suede oxfords. I found these nice looking wing tips while browsing a few blogs online. They are the 1901 brand sold at Nordstroms and come with 3 different colored laces. It's a nice casual shoe that goes well with jeans. I'll try to wear them often before the snow and slush show up.

First Snow

The first snow of the year was not too bad. I didn't think I could wear this tweed blazer in the winter but with a few layers underneath it's nice and warm. The puffy vest is a great under layer. I've tried wearing it over the blazer but it's just not as comfortable that way. I guess I would need a size larger for that.

Blacked Out

Blacked out look today to protest the internet censorship bills. This is not about piracy. The film and music industries would like to squeeze every last penny out of consumers but this is more about controlling what we see and what we can say. I'm perfectly happy deciding that for myself! The Arab spring and Occupy movements have certainly raised a few eyebrows around the world. Freedom of speech is really just an expression. Very few can speak freely without serious consequences. The internet is one of the last bastions of freedom. There is a small but very powerful minority that would like to change that. It's up to everyone to make sure they don't succeed.

Pea Coat

Winter seems to be finally arriving! This is a nice pea coat from Calvin Klien. I like the zippered pockets and slim fit. The bomber hat is great for the cold weather and it certainly keeps my ears from freezing off! I noticed a lot of people wearing them last night when I went to the museum of modern art to see the Diego Rivera exhibit. After the museum I was starving and noticed the line for Halal food on 6th Avenue was shorter than usual so I got on it. Only about 20 people in front of me instead of 100! I love eating street food when it's good and this really hit the spot!

Sunny New Year

2012 started with a beautiful sunny day. They say the cold weather is coming so maybe this was one last chance to dress light. I just got these Cole Haan boots. I like the flannel paneling on them and weathered suede. It's a bonus that they are extremely comfortable.
